Our mission is to promote optimal mental health through awareness, advocacy and education.  At MHALC, we are dedicated to helping individuals lead mentally healthy lives. We believe that to achieve optimal health we must make a commitment to care for mind, body, and spirit. Often, we take care of our physical needs by eating well or exercising, and connect with a presence larger than ourselves to attend to our spirit’s needs. Yet, when it comes to taking care of our mind, we often dismiss its’ importance. When we ignore our mental health, we overlook the very part of us that helps us to know and achieve our best selves.

AWC offers free services any woman facing an unplanned or challenging pregnancy, including pregnancy testing, ultrasound, community referrals, practical assistance, parenting education program, and other services. We seek to serve the whole woman and empower her with knowledge and confidence to make an informed decision about her pregnancy options.

A Woman's Concern would have used the donation to help fund our Parenting Education Program (which encompasses 65%  of our office visits). The Parenting Education Program empowers vulnerable mothers and families by equipping them with indispensable health, safety, and parenting education and support. This program helps prepare children to have positive outcomes in their lives by supporting the child’s mother throughout pregnancy up until the child is one year old. Program participants earn “points” by completing homework, showing proof of prenatal appointments, bringing in pay stubs, attending birthing classes, and more. Clients can then redeem their points for small baby items along the way or save for a large item. Our core values (as articulated by client feedback) of compassion, education, support, and encouragement are reflected throughout PEP, as single parents and families receive consistent support and accountability, education that promotes healthy pregnancies and resources to encourage successful parenting and thriving families.
